Hey guys,

Today I programmed my first WordPress plugin, titled ‘Datafeedr Product Reviews‘. What my plugin does is adds a simple ‘User Reviews’ section to all of the product pages in your Datafeedr store. Not familiar with Datafeedr? Most simply, Datafeedr is a WordPress plugin that allows you to create affiliate stores quickly and easily. It is a paid plugin, but if you ask it’s users, it is well worth the money.

The only bad thing about Datafeedr is it does not come with a user comments/review section for it’s products. So, I decided to solve this problem by creating the first ever product review plugin 100% compatible with Datafeedr. I haven’t decided whether the plugin is going to available for free or as a paid plugin yet; however it’s most likely that it will be available for free very soon. I just want to touch up on some minor bugs etc. before releasing the first version of the plugin.

I will be creating a FAQ/info page for the plugin on this very website very soon, so keep on the look out for it. If you are interested in getting the plugin, check back on my site in a couple of days and look for a new page in the menu bar with all of the information you will need.

I hope you enjoy what’s to come! New content coming very very soon!

If you are a beginner with Adobe After Effects, you might not know your way around the program too well. You might finish your first composition, export it, go to watch your brand new masterpiece and then realize…there’s no sound! One of the tricks you have to learn in After Effects is how to export with sound. It’s quite simple, all you have to know is where to go to find the right settings.

To get started, open up After Effects. In this tutorial I’m using After Effects CS4. With After Effects open, and your composition ready to be exported, go to composition in the top navigation menu, and click ‘Add To Render Queue’. This will add your composition to the render queue, as shown below. In my case, my composition is called ‘Muzzle Flare Practice’.

After Adding Video To Render Queue

Now that you have your composition in the render queue, it is time to enable the output/exporting of sound. To do so, simply click on the link next to the words “Output Module”. In my case, it says “Lossless”, however what the link says will change depending on your settings. After clicking this link, the output module settings window will show up. It should look something like this:

Output Module Settings Window

In this settings window, on the ‘Main Options’ tab, you will see a check box for audio output at the bottom. Simply check this box, and click “OK”. Now, when you start the render queue and export your video it should have sound!

Good luck in your After Effects adventures! Look out for more After Effects tutorials coming soon :p

Hey guys,

If you did not know already, among other things I am also a web developer who can program in PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS, and Javascript. Whenever I am programming I always use Syntax Highlighting Programs to make things easier. In my opinion, using a syntax highlighting program is ALWAYS necessary if you want to code quickly, cleanly, and efficiently. Syntax highlighting programs help by numbering lines, highlighting your code to make it easier to read, and in some cases, even closing your tags to make sure you never forget to close a tag again!

When it comes to Syntax Highlighting Programs, there are a ton of them out there. Some of them are free, and some of them can cost you big bucks. As far as I’m concerned it’s not at all necessary to drop cash on a syntax highlighting program, as there are already many free programs out there that will do the job well.

One of the most popular FREE syntax highlighting programs is Notepad++. This program is a great one for sure, offering features such as:

Syntax Highlighting and Syntax Folding

User Language Defined System

Tabed document and Multi-View

More than 50 languages supported

Full Drag ‘N’ Drop supported

Macro recording and playback

Extensible with its plugin system

These features are what make Notepad++ such an amazing program. You can download Notepad++ for FREE at the above link. The only downside of Notepad++ is It’s not compatible with the Mac OS. Sorry Mac users, instead check out my article coming soon about Mac alternatives to these syntax highlighting programs.

Another moderately popular syntax highlighting program which I prefer because of It’s ability to support project files is Programmer’s Notepad. This program is truly great, and also offers the ability to close your tags for you! Never forget to close your tags again! This program offers many features such as:

Syntax Highlighting for lots of languages, configured with schemes

Multi-language user interface

Unlimited number of schemes supported, powerful syntax

highlighting supporting both user-defined and built-in schemes

Text Clips provide smart templates for text insertion

Code Folding/Outlining

Docking windows for: File Browser, Open Files, Text Clips, Tool Output, Find in Files results

Regular expression search and replace (full perl syntax)

Excellent external tool support with user-configurable

output matching – click on errors and warnings to jump right to

the place in the file where they were generated

Split Views

Bookmarks (both numbered and plain)

Export to HTML (using CSS) and RTF

Code definition browsing and navigation (using Ctags)

Non fixed-width font support

Projects and Project Groups with multi-level folders and file system mirroring

Scripting with Python

Extensions support for developing add-ons with C++

Support for UTF8, 16 and various file encodings

Support for windows, unix and macintosh line endings

Tabbed MDI interface, with multi-level split views

Word-wrapping

Although these programs are both winners, I prefer Programmer’s Notepad for its simplicity, ease of use, and overall greatness. I hope you enjoy these two programs as much as I do! Look out for more content coming soon!

Happy programming :p

Hey guys!

As I continue to add on to and update my new blog, I figured I should post some updates for anyone that might actually be reading my posts. Before I start posting legitimate content, I need a legitimate website to post it on, so I’ve been working hard at getting the site up and running at its full potential.

Today, I installed a new theme, called ‘typebased’ which is available for download FREE at http://www.woothemes.com/2008/11/typebased/. I think its a great theme which surely gives a better look to the site then the stock one! I was originally experimenting with another theme, however this one is better suited for this website.

I also added a new contact form to the site today, using a great WordPress plugin called ‘Contact Form 7′. It’s really awesome, and If you install the ‘Really Simple CAPTCHA’ plugin, it includes a free CAPTCHA to prevent spam as well. I think the contact form is a great addition, as it will allow you guys to get in touch with me and talk about anything you want. This includes hiring me for programming work, inquiring about an article, or even discussing a good idea you have for a website. Hell, with the new contact form you can talk to me about ANYTHING!

I hope you enjoy the new additions to the site, I will be adding some more great features soon!

Enjoy
